A Leader in Innovation, Technology, and Industry Impact: Celebrating Carrum Health’s Recent Wins
Celebrating (some of) Carrum Health’s recent wins
By far, the most exciting thing we do here at Carrum Health is help our members receive high-quality specialty care—for surgery, cancer, substance use, and more—from the best providers across the country. Our member stories will never get old.
This fall, however, we had a few more reasons to celebrate. In addition to winning two awards from BenefitsPRO, our CEO Sach Jain was featured in two great pieces from the HLTH conference, and our VP of Cancer Care Deirdre Saulet provided invaluable insights to Healthline Media’s Bezzy community.
Learn more about each of these exciting wins below:
1. BenefitsPRO Luminary Awards: Carrum Health and Brook West
Each year, BenefitsPRO recognizes outstanding leaders and companies in the healthcare and health benefits space. For the second year in a row, Carrum Health won a company award and one of our leaders won an individual award.
In 2023, Carrum Health received an award in the Leadership category. This year, we received an award in the Innovation & Technology category, which recognizes “pacesetters who push insurance carriers, organizations, vendors, agencies, and brokerages forward in terms of digitalization, modernization, and client and customer experiences.”
Carrum Health has long been at the forefront of transforming healthcare delivery through our value-based care platform. Over the past year, we’ve introduced advanced capabilities like predictive analytics and personalized care pathways. Our technology-driven approach is designed to simplify the complexities of healthcare, from the initial diagnosis to post-operative care. By integrating cutting-edge tools into our platform, we make it easier for patients to access high-quality care (at little to no cost) while helping employers manage costs more effectively.
In addition, BenefitsPRO recognized our Chief Commercial Officer, Brook West, in the Industry Impact category. Brook has been an integral part of Carrum Health’s leadership team, driving growth strategies that have expanded our reach and impact. Her leadership and dedication to Carrum Health’s mission have been pivotal in helping us deliver better care to even more people. We couldn’t be more proud of or grateful for her contributions.
2. Serving as the voice of reason at HLTH
When our Ceo Sach Jain spoke with MedCity News at the HLTH conference in Las Vegas last month, the reporter was so impressed with his transparency that she pulled him aside to record a video about his overall view on the conference and the state of the health benefits industry.
“The GDP is growing 2-3%. Healthcare costs are going up 8%. Specialty care costs—which include surgery, cancer care, and whatnot—are going up by 14%,” Sach says in the video. “So we need to really be very focused on bringing the cost down starting with areas like specialty care so that next time we come here, we have something really to celebrate as opposed to just making promises.”
We were thrilled to see that this video resonated with so many people, including Matthew Holt, a leading voice in the industry.
3. Singled out as one of five interesting companies
Hundreds of companies attend the HLTH conference each year, which is why we feel even more honored that we were one of the five organizations MedCity’s Arundhati Parmar decided to shine a spotlight on.
Parmar spoke to Sach about our overall mission and the recent launch of our value-based substance use treatment program, the industry’s first of its kind.
“If the company is successful in scaling these programs to many employers,” Parmar writes, “it will be addressing a big and expensive problem. Jain noted that employers pay roughly $35 billion annually on providing substance use disorder benefits to their members.”
4. Driving the story about celebrity influence on health decisions
We were thrilled to see the insights of Deirdre Saulet, Carrum Health’s VP of Cancer Care, in a recent Bezzy post in which writer Kate Mannion explores how the health decisions of famous people could shape others’ healthcare decisions.
Mannion specifically cites Elle Macpherson’s announcement that she would not pursue the chemotherapy treatment recommended by her oncologist for her early-stage breast cancer. Today, seven years later, she’s in remission.
Deirdre weighed in on aspects the public may not know or understand about Macpherson’s decision to go against her doctor’s advice and left the readers with some wise advice:
“One person’s experience with breast cancer is just that—one person’s experience,” she tells Mannion. “We need to recognize that every diagnosis and every person’s situation is complex, multifactorial, and unique.”
A bright future for Carrum Health
We believe that this recognition—both the awards and reporters’ leaning on Carrumites for their expertise—is a reflection of the collective hard work and dedication of our entire team. We remain committed to pushing the envelope in healthcare, delivering the highest standards of care to our patients, and making a long-lasting difference in the industry and people’s lives. We couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.
